Just finished (yesterday) reading JMG's post (along with all the comments!) on synchronicity... Like most people, I have a number of examples that might qualify, and it reminded me of a poem I wrote some years ago that mentions a few of those examples. (Warning: personal poetry ahead, and not one I've reworked or edited since it was written)
Every Little Thing
A brave but fragile flower peaking up through the stone
Brings a flash of memory - I know I'm not alone
An icy road, a narrow bridge, and no time to respond -
Yet an instant later, my car moves blithely on
So many moments that time may bring
Everything, every little thing
A sudden change of plans, and later I see why -
Answers all remembered, I hardly need to try
A thought that begins to prepare me before I hear the news
Life may be a mystery, but I'm finding all these clues
So many moments that time may bring
Everything, every little thing
Favor with many people, which I'm sure I don't deserve
The right word of encouragement when I lose my nerve
A simple act of kindness, completely unexpected
A difficult situation without my help corrected
So many moments that time may bring
Everything, every little thing
The provision of just enough when I find myself in need
A warning of danger ahead (which I do not always heed...)
A life kept under shelter, even when I've been unwise
The joy in replacing with new ways my habits that I despise
So many moments that time may bring
Everything, every little thing
Every little thing that interrupts my day
Every little thing that ever comes my way
Every little thing that provokes the question "Why?"
Every little thing that draws my thoughts up high
Everything, every little thing -
I shake my head and smile
To see that You're with me in every little thing,
In every little trial
Every Little Thing
A brave but fragile flower peaking up through the stone
Brings a flash of memory - I know I'm not alone
An icy road, a narrow bridge, and no time to respond -
Yet an instant later, my car moves blithely on
So many moments that time may bring
