[Dream] Two sets of people: one group intending to build their own community in the abandoned property of a mental asylum in the shadow of some ancient jungle ruins, the other group the surviving members of a zombie outbreak at said mental asylum. The zombie-ism appears to be some kind of mental illness, which these potential zombies have learned some techniques to control. The leader of the zombie group approaches the community leader, and the two groups decide to join together (although the "potential zombie" issue is not mentioned to community group members). They settle into the abandoned mental asylum, and - apparently of note - there's a large boulder in the front of the property that was used as a sign for the asylum, but is covered with a mossy substance and has some kind of ominous quality. One thing leads to another and the zombies lose control of their mental symptoms and start trying to eat people again.
Somehow there's the notion of accessing the ancient jungle ruins, that there's some kind of solution there, so off we go to uncover what ends up being an old alien base. Unlike most ancient ruins, this building is pretty much all white, made of some kind of adobe material, so it was pretty easy to find. Aliens come (maybe due to some kind of alarm system). I can't remember exactly what they looked like, but generally like people, humanoid. These aliens have psychic powers, including telepathy, mind control, and some kind of brainwashing/brain-wiping technique that they use to cure the zombies.
The aliens hang around a bit and seem amenable to some kind of cooperative existence, but they want a handful of humans to serve as emergency radio relays in the alien base. (Basically, the aliens would scramble their brains such that they would be ideal receivers and whatnot of the alien telepathic ability, and the humans would mentally exist in a daze - static - when not being used for communication.) Naturally, no one is interested in doing this.
I find the aliens' suggestion somewhat suspicious and wonder whether there are nefarious schemes afoot. Nonetheless, I choose participate in some of the training (to do what, I'm not sure) offered by the aliens. Cut to scene of alien trying to communicate with me telepathically, but I'm not "hearing" anything. Alien gets frustrated and manages to slip and fall on his back, and all the other human trainees follow suit like they were all playing a game of Alien Says.
So I'm left with a bunch of questions: Why does the alien telepathy not work on me? Is there something weird about my brain (like how in Futurama, Fry is immune to the Brains' powers because he's his own grandfather)? Is the mind control power just a stronger version of telepathy, so when the alien was essentially "shouting" at me telepathically, it turned into mind control of the other trainees? Or had the alien put them under mind control to begin with? What were the aliens' motives? Could I write a story out of this?
